Advanced Abdominal Imaging

Over the years, RAF has expanded its body imaging team of fellowship-trained radiologists through strategic recruiting. RAF’s body imaging subspecialists provide expertise that range from conventional techniques to advanced imaging protocols for evaluation of disorders of the abdomen and pelvis.

Our high-level expertise and sophisticated equipment allow us to minimize radiation exposure and reduce invasive procedures, while providing detailed images of internal organs needed to guide patient management. The abdominal imaging section is also involved in the education of many radiology residents and 3 dedicated body imaging fellows. Our fellows are well trained by expert faculty and get exposed to a diverse imaging and procedural case load.

Radiology Associates

The abdominal imaging section conducts a large number of multi-disciplinary conferences every week such as Liver, Gastrointestinal, GI tumor board, GU tumor board, Gynecological Oncology, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Liver Transplant Expertise

For over 20 years, RAF has played a key role in one of the nation’s top 5 liver transplant centers Tampa General Hospital, providing pre-transplant workup and monitoring for post-surgical complications. We use advanced MR imaging, which in some cases can be more sensitive than biopsy in assessing conditions like liver tumors.

Advanced MRI is also revolutionizing the work-up of pelvic floor dysfunction, which can be challenging and time consuming for the growing population of elderly women in the area. Dynamic pelvic MRI is more sensitive than physical examination, making it the new gold standard for diagnosing pelvic floor disorders.

Expertise in parametric prostate imaging, MR Elastography, Fat and Iron quantification, Rectal cancer staging, MRI enterography and oncologic staging provides our patients with state of the art medical care.

Therapeutic Procedures

RAF performs a large number of percutaneous image guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as biopsies, drainages and imaging guided treatments. Such procedures can improve accuracy, speed of recovery, and enhance patient safety. Our team manages patients not only before and after procedures, but for subsequent follow-up as well. The abdominal imaging team within RAF continues to develop new imaging protocols and techniques to further advance diagnosis and care.
